Barb Benson is a primarily self-taught, lifelong artist who’s worked in most media: jewelry, ceramics, fibers, painting, metal sculpture and more. Her artwork has been featured in museums, galleries and private collections, as well as hundreds of magazines, periodicals, television and radio shows, internationally.
She’s been a freelance artist, artist’s model, instructor, muralist, gallery owner, curator and worked at the finest art schools in the country. She has represented hundreds of artists, sold thousands of creative works and become an accomplished business woman, thereby breaking the stereotype, ‘Artists are bad business people’. Her career has given her a uniquely well-rounded understanding of the art world and made her an authority on the subject of ‘Makin’ It’ as an artist.
Her mission now is to use her experience and creativity to offer opportunities for artists and art enthusiasts, bring art to the masses, promote self-expression and break the negative stereotypes that are so often associated with the arts. Barb believes you can be a great artist without being ‘starving’ or ‘tortured’.
